About the Author
Daniel Venn is a graduate of Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN. He grew up in the small, rural farm town of Cannon Falls, Minnesota. Desiring to see more of the world, he joined a team of American baseball players playing in the Costa Rican Summer Leagues and spent a summer pitching in Central America. His exploits and embarrassments in Costa Rica make up the basis of his first book Beyond Baseball. After returning from Costa Rica, he accepted a teaching position at an elementary school in Ecuador and spent the next eight months traveling South America teaching English to young students. Since graduating college, he has spent time as a Peace Corps volunteer in Western Samoa, a teacher and coach in the United States, and has traveled to Nicaragua with the non-profit Helping Kids Round First to help give more young ballplayers that opportunity to play baseball around the world. He is a terrible dancer and doesn't match his socks.
